The holiday tradition lingers on into January with Little Christmas, the celebration of the Epiphany. Italian lore has it that La Befana arrives the night before on her broomstick, goes down the chimney and leaves presents for good children. Any child caught up and about on 5 January is said to get a swift sweeping with said broom.
