Gelato, Coffee and Pears

Mio Gelato is one of two gelato stores on NW 23rd. Situated on the corner of NW Kearney with a west exposure it is a haven for many who come to enjoy the sights, sounds and sometimes sun in Northwest Portland. Sitting outside, I noticed through the open window this ray of sunlight crisscrossing pears and heading straight to the drawing of the man with a cup of coffee.

Besaws ~ Sunday Morning Breakfast

.
Besaws is a local restaurant and attracts crowds like this on the weekend. I've never understood waiting to eat ~ the French Toast can't be that good.

Spots and Tatts on NW 23rd

Strolling on NW 23rd last night here in Portland Oregon we ended up sitting and having a sorbetto on NW Kearny. What fun watching this woman with her decked out hair style and tattoos.

Dogs in the Window

These lovelies were on NW 25th and Thurman here in Portland, Oregon. The two Lhasas look quite nice next to the black pug. However, this was their one moment of silence! You could hear them for blocks.

Strong People

Here are two images, one is of a statue of Teddy Roosevelt who would have liked to have been remembered as a Rough Rider. The other is of a small stuffed rabbit given by another friend to my friend Gayle who entered Hospice today. Gayle is 91 and has hiked to the top of all of the volcanos in the Pacific Northwest. She did this in the 1940's. The plus side for Gayle is that she'll soon be talking directly with Teddy exchanging exploits...

....update....

Gayle was moved from the hospital back to Cedar Crest, the Alzheimer's Unit where she's lived for two years, yesterday afternoon. She seemed far less agitated when I saw her this morning. Hospice will be a blessing for her so that she can be in familiar surroundings as she continues to decline.

First Day of Summer in Portland

.
The sun kept peeking out through some clear skies and then thin clouds. There was enough of it to bring the temperatures well over 80, hot for Portland. Lots of people took advantage of the early evening mellowness to enjoy the great out of doors in Jamison Square, one of Portland's small city parks.

Red Dress PDX

The Gay Pride Parade took place in Portland today. Although we missed it, we were lucky enough to be on NW 10th when the float for Red Dress PDX went by as it returned to where it had started before the beginning of the event.

Clicking on the photo will take you over to the photostream in Flickr for additional images.

Saturday in Tanner Springs Park

Late in the day, the rain stopped and we took a walk in Tanner Springs Park here in Portland. A tranquil park that's great for strolling, reading and when the weather is better having a picnic!

Breakfast at the Bijou

June is a busy month and today is a special day. Voice from the Couch's birthday meant that we would go out to breakfast. Here are two images from the Bijou, one of Portland's best breakfast and lunch spots. This nice bright interior is about to change. So drink up this light because the next time you see the restaurant it could be totally different.

The Monk and the Rose

.
Portland's International Rose Garden is a major attraction here in town. There are likely as many tourists looking at the roses as there are roses blooming. Tonight this monk spent quite some time walk the paths and enjoying the floral beauty.

Bugattis Rule

.
Another evening event with the automobiles at the Portland Art Museum gave me an opportunity to take a self portrait with the 1937 Bugatti. After doing that I turned and took this image of the ostrich hide interior.
